Pismo Beach – I am in awe of this amazing place. Who would have thought you could have both the off-road fun of riding the sand dunes while enjoying the ocean?? This place provides just that. Yes, you can camp on the beach for a measly $10.00 a night! Or, if you don’t trust your RV in the sand, you can ride your vehicle up and down the beach or ride horses along the beach…whatever you like. I could have spent a much longer time exploring this wonderland. Here are some photographic highlights of our two day stay there…
Our first hiking trip to view the infamous Pinnacles, home to the California Condor.
The weather during our 20 day trip has been nothing short of spectacular. We have been blessed both with clear skies and fantastic cloud formations…making for perfect sunrise and sunset pictures.
The California Condor has a wing span of up to 9.5 feet and stands up to 5’5″ and resides primarily in a little place called Pinnacles National Monument, just west of the San Andres Fault.
The June Lake loop off the 395 is awesome! It is only about 17 miles, but scenic all the way. There are about 4 lakes and many creeks and rivers. Each one unique, and each one beautiful.
I’m sitting in our motor home in a place called June Lake, surrounded by snow covered Sierra Nevada Mountains and a crystal clear blue lake. It is 19 degrees and I am sipping hot coffee, dipping Cream de Piroulines wafers in until they are soggy…it is toasty warm, we are streaming the DSC radio show live and playing with our technical gadgets. I dunno…is it me? But this sure doesn’t feel like roughing it. I think I am falling in love with this new life.
Camping at the base of what looks like petrified sand castles, the kind made when dripping wet sand in a stack. The colors ranged from deep reds and pinks to cream and peach. This place was spectacular!!
