Back Home!

ImageWell, it is definitely nice to be back home.  We learned so much from this trip…now it’s time to take care of some business.  We have some minor projects to make our living space a little more functional.  We added some more DVDs to our current collection to keep us entertained when there is no internet or cable TV. But best of all…I am inspired and am making more jewelry with the stones we have polished.  My next collection will be fashioned after Southwest influences and will be posted on our Etsy website…Artful Inclinations.  I will also be interviewing for a job…surprise! I did not expect this…but…what the heck…I am going for it.  One way or the other…it will all be good.  Life is nothing but one surprise after the other…who knows what tomorrow will bring?  I choose to look at this as an opportunity…if nothing else.  But stay tuned my friends…more travels are afoot and I will share them all.

The picture I posted was our last night on the road.  We drove from Sedona, AZ to Buttercup, CA…home of the great Imperial County Sand Dunes…a place we used to frequent in our younger, more bendy days.  It’s nice to know that some things we once remembered fondly, have not changed.  The rules have changed…but the dunes looked the same.  It was wonderful being there again.  Happy trails!

After Thoughts

I have never been on a “vacation” for more than 17 days in a row…that was my honeymoon in 1977.  Whoops…kinda gave that one away…  This trip was about 21 days of which we covered Joshua Tree, the Mojave Desert, Red Rock Canyon, Owens Valley, Lone Pine, Lee Vinning, Mono Lake, June Lake Loop, Carson City, Nevada, Gold Run/Dutch Flats in the Sierras, Davis, CA, Pinnacles, Pismo Beach, San Clemente Beach, and back home to San Diego. All this in the confines of a 28 foot RV with my hubby.  Some thought that we were crazy…and maybe we were, but it takes a certain kind of relationship to put up with each other 24/7.  Was it perfect?? On some days, yes…but there are always adjustments as you get to know each other on a very personal level.  No time for uncomfortable habits or hygiene issues…everything is pretty exposed.  I think overall, we did exceptionally well.  We are still married…(ha, ha), we are actually excited about our next journey.  Right now we are parked in an RV park for the holidays, with short trips planned here and there to keep things interesting.  Right now, I am cooking Chicken Enchilada Soup anticipating rain, which in this town, is well needed.  Goodbye for now and stay tuned…there will be more adventures…Promise!

I’m sitting in our motor home in a place called June Lake, surrounded by snow covered Sierra Nevada Mountains and a crystal clear blue lake.  It is 19 degrees and I am sipping hot coffee, dipping Cream de Piroulines wafers in until they are soggy…it is toasty warm, we are streaming the DSC radio show live and playing with our technical gadgets.  I dunno…is it me? But this sure doesn’t feel like roughing it.  I think I am falling in love with this new life.

Flat Towing

I am learning so much!  I am astounded as to the sheer number of people that have been doing this RV thing for years!  Thank goodness!  All their experience and knowledge has been my salvation.  Thank you bloggers for all your great advice and suggestions!

Now I need some help in finding the right type of car that can be flat towed (all four wheels) behind an RV.  We are looking for a small, used car that is economical and gets good gas mileage.  I know that many of you have Wranglers…very popular…but we don’t want a truck or SUV.  Just something we can truck around in after we have set up camp.  Any suggestions?

Across The Moo-niverse

My husband and I are planning to hit the road in an RV full-time. We could use all the advice you care to send our way. I have to say that while we thought this was a daring adventure, I was shocked to see all the people already this (I love google). Actually, I am somewhat relieved and encouraged. So please share your tips, suggestions and experiences and I promise, I will do the same through this blog. Happy Trails!
